Jay Shetty Calls Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s Wedding “Surreal”

After officiating Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck’s wedding, Jay Shetty is still in shock!

The 36-year-old author of ‘Think Like a Monk’ talked about how amazing and bizarre it was to be the leader of the couple’s August 2022 wedding.

On the 18th April broadcast of ‘Next Question with Katie Couric,’ Shetty, 36, spoke with Katie about how his friendship with Lopez, 54, began to take off a few years ago. When Lopez joined Jay Shetty on his podcast, ‘On Purpose with Jay Shetty,’ they clicked and their relationship grew.

Later, at the premiere of Shetty’s musical act, ‘Marry Me,’ Lopez asked her to appear as a wedding officiant. The two kept in touch via regular correspondence. Even though they were close, Shetty acknowledged that when Lopez asked him to preside, he felt uneasy and uncomfortable. He was under tremendous pressure as he became aware of how big the task was.

But a passionate discussion about the kind of wedding they imagined with Lopez eased his fears. Shetty told Couric he felt like he was in a movie on the wedding day, describing it as weird and overtaken by the beautiful ambience.

Shetty resisted the need to cry, even though he usually cries at weddings, telling himself it wasn’t about him. He loved every second, especially when he saw Lopez’s breathtaking entrance and Affleck’s heartfelt response.

Shetty was very appreciative of the event and said it was one of the most memorable things he would always cherish.

In July 2022, Lopez and Affleck got married in Las Vegas. The following month, they celebrated with a ceremony in Georgia.
