All You Need to Know; Conan Gray
The up and coming Conan Gray recently created quite a splash with his moody love songs. And now, adding to that mix is the brand new music video for his track, ‘Heather’.
The song witnesses a gentle guitar riff, wound closely around Conan’s lulling, soulful vocals. This tune finds its space on the singer-songwriter’s debut album, “Kid Krow” which made its landing just this year. The music video for this track is as aesthetic as they get. Featuring a sun-drenched Conan lazing around in bed, shots of the deep blue sky and pretty household objects – the visuals are simple, yet charming.
Speaking of the story behind the track itself, Conan had this to say: “When I was in high school, I had a crush on the same one person all four years. But that one person did not love me back, instead my crush liked a girl named Heather. Heather was gentle and beautiful, inside and out. She was warm like a summer day, and had so many friends. She was soft and so easily lovable— everything I am not. The ‘Heather’ video is my way of becoming all of the things that I envy about Heather.”

1. We’re starting with the basics, Conan Gray is Irish-Japanese. As a child, he lived in Japan for a few years before his family moved back to California. Gray used to speak Japanese fluently, but has since lost his proficiency.
2. Like many young stars, a YouTube channel was Conan’s doorway to the entertainment world. Gray would often vlog on his life in small-town Texas. Apart from this, he also uploaded recordings of his music.
3. Conan Gray self-released his debut single ‘Idle Town’, in March 2017. The song raked in a whopping 14 million streams on Spotify.
4. Interestingly enough, Gray performed several shows as the opening act for Panic! at the Disco during their Pray for the Wicked Tour. Frontman Brendon Urie and the star still remain close friends.
5. The star’s full-length studio album “Kid Krow” debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 , which is an impressive feat for a newbie.
6. Conan Gray has cited Taylor Swift as his biggest inspiration. He’s often heaped praises on her, gushing, “I love her so much. I love her music. I love what she does. I love her lyricism. I love how she’s handled her career. I grew up listening to her music since I was nine years old. I feel like she shaped me so much as a person.”
7. Joining Taylor Swift on this steadily growing list is also Lorde and in an exciting turn of events – V (Kim Taehyung) from the hit Kpop group, BTS. The latter has promised to collaborate with Conan in the near future.
8. Conan also shares a close bond with Billie Eilish. As he once stated, “Billie and I have been friends since, like, literally forever, since she was, like, 15. I was like, 17. We were really young. Watching her have to figure out all these little things along the way has been really helpful for me.”
9. Conan Gray was all set to make his debut performance at the Coachella stage this year, but things are still up in the air due to the global coronavirus pandemic.
10. And finally, to end on a high note: Billboard has listed Gray as a frontrunner in their predictions for Best New Artist nominees at the 2021 Grammy Awards. Something tells us these predictions will come true.
