Solána Imani Rowe, better known as SZA is just 29 and we can firmly say that her rise to fame has only just begun. Over the past few years, the American-born sensation has been tearing up charts world over. With collaborations from Justin Timberlake and Kendrick Lamar on her resume, there’s no telling how far she’ll go.
Now, SZA recently resurfaced with a brand new sparkly track titled, ‘Hit Different’ with Ty Dolla $ign. And in light of this glorious new release, we figured, we’d help you get a bit more firmly acquainted with the star. How did she find her footing in the industry? Did she always want to pursue music? 1. SZA was raised by her father, who was a CNN producer and her mother, who worked for AT&T. She wasn’t the only child in the family, though. She has an older half-sister named Tiffany.
2. We’ve gotten a peek at some of her finest dance routines in all her great music videos and there’s a story behind how she’s able to move so well. SZA actually trained as a gymnast for 13 years. Well, now the secret’s out.
3. Moving from one career path to another, SZA actually
wanted to work at Seaworld. Yes, we’re pretty sure you dreamt of something like this too. Reportedly, she wanted to study Marine Biology so that she could pursue a job
at Seaworld.
4. SZA has been through some ups and downs when it came to navigating her career. The singer was actually fired from her past bartending job. She apparently asked for time off to babysit for her sister, but in reality, she had to go play at a show. Well, if only her employers could see her now!
5. It honestly seems like SZA’s entire life was
just a series of happy mistakes. Because soon after she dropped out of college, she stumbled on to music. And ever since then, there’s been no looking back. That’s one fortuitous stumble, isn’t it?
