SZA & Ty Dolla $ign Sing of A Scorching Love Affair in ‘Hit Different’

Amid the flood of new releases this week, SZA has resurfaced with a buzzing new tune. Standing in league with Ty Dolla $ign, the duo dropped a track titled, ‘Hit Different’.

This tune proves to be a gentle R&B jam, peppered with a slow trap beat. ‘Hit Different’ also sees both SZA and Ty Dolla $ign arrive with some dreamy harmonies. The former is heard crooning her verses with sparkly melodic runs and soulful falsettos, reminiscent of the soundscape seen on ‘All The Stars’ from the ‘Black Panther’ soundtrack.

‘Hit Different’ speaks of the strong knot binding both acts to their lovers. The stars grip tight to the steadily burning ropes of an affair. And even if the heat gets to them, they don’t plan on letting go. The song certainly takes a unique approach to the idea of love and relationships, but perhaps a glance at the lyrics will allow for a better understanding:

Quicker than we started, evidence we misaligned
Man, I get more in love (More in love) with you each argument
Somethin’ wrong with me, I like the way you screw your face up
Trigger me right when I need it
You wrong, but I can’t get along without you

All that I know is
Mirrors inside me
They recognize you
Please, don’t deny me

The song also arrived with its very own visualizer, which witnessed SZA executing a stunning dance routine. In fact, the video was directed by the star herself. We see her, flocked by a group of gorgeous backup dancers, as they perform from an array of rather cinematic locations: a sunny field, atop a haystack and in the back of a pickup truck.

In other news, SZA also opened up about the fact that she’s been cooking up a couple more tunes in the studio. The star confessed that she’s been working with Timbaland, Sia and Pharrell on new material. “It’s about recording every single day, with the idea and intention that you’re chipping away at this invisible thing that will eventually reveal itself,” SZA said of working on her forthcoming album.

Well, here’s hoping she’ll treat us with a string of new gems as soon as possible!
