The Week in Music: News from 17th Aug – 23rd Aug
This week in music was more a roller coaster ride than it was just a few days passing by. From new releases, to interesting developments in the personal lives of celebrities, the platter of news this week is top-full.
BTS released their new single and subsequently exploded on the music scen. And, that exciting release was prefaced by news from rapper, Travis Scott. He’s set to release a brand new track under mysterious circumstances. And, if that wasn’t enough, Mariah Carey announced a brand new release, too. Further, empowering developments in Britney Spears’ court case against her father took fans by surprise.

2. Travis Scott announced a brand new track called ‘The Plan’. And, this one will feature as an OST in Christopher Nolan’s upcoming film, “Tenet”.
2. SZA revealed to fans that the reason for her album being postponed is the hostile relationship between her and her label – Top Dawg Entertainment. Here’s their response.
3. Ariana Grande was announced as a performer for the 2020 MTV VMAs. In addition, the star will join Lady Gaga as they perform the song ‘Rain On Me’ live, for the first time.
4. Troye Sivan released his highly anticipated EP, “In A Dream”. The 6-track project explores heartbreak, infatuation, loss and love.
5. BTS released their highly anticipated English-language single, ‘Dynamite’. The track broke records in the first 20 minutes of release, reaching 10 million views on YouTube.
6. Court documents revealed that Britney Spears intends to carry out serious legal action against her father, James Spears. And, also, end his conservatorship over her permanently.
7. Iggy Azalea and Tinashe blessed Friday with a brand new track called ‘DLNW’. Iggy calls it “one for the books”.
8. Mariah Carey announced the release of a brand new album – “The Rarities”. The singer dedicates this one to her fans.
9. Pharrell Williams released a brand new collaboration with fellow rapper, Jay-Z. The track is called ‘Entrepreneur’ and celebrates black excellence.
10. TWICE released an all-English version of their previous Korean release, ‘More & More’. This one has quickly become a fan favourite.
