How Lucius Malfoy’s Pride Became His Downfall in the ‘Harry Potter’ Movie Series

One of the most intriguing characters in the ‘Harry Potter’ universe is Lucius Malfoy.  Rich, proud, and fervently dedicated to pure-blood dominance, Lucius exuded a sense of superiority that ultimately proved to be his downfall.  His pride prevented him from seeing how the world was changing around him and led to many of the mistakes that put him and his family in danger.

 Lucius is presented as a guy who is certain about his place in wizarding society throughout the entire book.  He openly despises Muggle-born people and anybody he perceives as inferior, displays his money, and manipulates the Ministry of Magic.  His reckless deeds, such as bringing Tom Riddle’s diary into Hogwarts, put his family at risk of Voldemort’s wrath and endangered countless lives because he thought his influence would protect him from punishment.

Lucius soon lost favour as Voldemort regained his position of authority.  He was a liability rather than an asset as a result of his shortcomings, which included the catastrophic occurrences at the Department of Mysteries.  The weakness of the pride that had formerly supported Voldemort was made clear by his brutal treatment of Lucius and the Malfoy family.  Lucius was no longer the self-assured nobleman; instead, he was a devastated man who was trying to keep his son Draco safe.

Lucius had lost all of his pride by the end of the series.  He is shown in The Deathly Hallows clinging to his family and putting their security ahead of the principles he formerly supported.  His tale is a potent reminder that unbridled arrogance and heedless devotion to antiquated ideals can result in disaster rather than success.

 The fascinating story of Lucius Malfoy’s decline shows how he loses everything he once held dear and, in the end, finds atonement in his family, which is all that remains of him.
