K-Pop Kulture: Girl Power in Korean Pop Music

From the outside, women in K-Pop may seem to play it safe. Well, that may have been the case a few years ago. But, as the industry has changed, so has what women have to say. And, then, there are those pop queens who don’t just break the rules, but make new ones. From powerful break up sing along-s that will have you feeling brand new to anthems of empowerment, women in K-Pop have delivered time and time again.

And, this girl power runs far and wide. Second generation groups like 2NE1, Girls Generation and EXID have served up some serious food for thought. And, then there’s solo acts like HyunA and Sunmi, who have taken bold and unapologetic expression to new heights. Further, joining the roster of female energy are third generation groups like BLACKPINK, Red Velvet, and ITZY.

So, on this week’s episode of K-Pop Kulture, we decided to pay homage to these pop goddesses. From bold statements and catchy grooves, these tracks have got it all. Now, all you’ve got to do is hit play and dive right in.

So, curate that girl power playlist and remind yourself who you are, ladies – bosses. Now, that’s a wrap  on this week’s episode of K-Pop Kulture, folks!
