Bad Bunny is Set to Star in Adam Sandler’s ‘Happy Gilmore 2’

Bad Bunny, whose real name is Benito Antonio Martínez Ocasio, has been cast alongside Adam Sandler in ‘Happy Gilmore 2’.

The sequel to the 1996 golf comedy was announced by a streaming service in May and will be produced by an OTT platform. Filming for the project, which officially began this month, has kept details under wraps, leaving the role of Bad Bunny a mystery for now. Julie Bowen and Christopher McDonald will return from the original film, with Kyle Newacheck (known for Murder Mystery) set to direct.

During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon’ on 20^th August, Sandler confirmed that production is set to start in September.

“It’s good. We worked hard on the script. We didn’t want to let anyone down. We came up with an idea — we wrote our a**es off,” he said. Check out the full interview below.

Sandler also revealed that NFL star Travis Kelce, who is currently dating Taylor Swift, will make an appearance in the film.

In the original ‘Happy Gilmore’, Sandler played the eponymous character, a hockey player with anger management issues who discovers a surprising talent for golf. Gilmore enters a golf tournament to win money to save his grandmother’s house, clashing with the arrogant Shooter McGavin (played by McDonald) along the way. The film also featured the late Carl Weathers and Bob Barker.

In other news, Sandler recently remarked that Will Smith's Oscars slap was "the best thing that ever happened" to Chris Rock. He suggested that the incident revitalized Rock's stand-up comedy, making it "wild again" and "outrageous."

Sandler’s latest film is the sci-fi drama ‘Spaceman’, where he stars as astronaut Jakub Prochazka, who encounters an alien creature at the edge of the solar system. Additionally, Sandler has released a new OTT stand-up special titled ‘Adam Sandler: Love You’.
