Carly Rae Jepsen Details A Disastrous Christmas Meal In New Track

Staying true to global calendars, artists have already started spreading that festive cheer with a string of starry releases. Last week witnessed two buzzing tunes from the likes of Liam Payne and the Jonas Brothers. So, as this Christmas list fattens up, there’s a brand new addition making quite the ripple. The young Carly Rae Jepsen just arrived with a funky new tune. 

Titled, ‘It’s Not Christmas Till Somebody Cries,’ the tune opens with a string of pretty sleigh bells, tossed up with funky synth pop beats. Jepsen’s honeyed vocals then arrive, hooking you in from the get-go. 

Interestingly, the songwriting proves to be all sorts of quirky and humorous. Jepsen details a rather sticky Christmas-Eve dinner, featuring all the familiar mood-dampeners. Here, take a look:

My boyfriend is a vegan, so they fed him fish
My uncle made it worse by talking politics
I had a few opinions might have started a fight
Well, it’s not Christmas till somebody cries

It’s not Christmas
Till we break down in tears

Speaking of the concept fueling the track, Jepsen explained, “I love the old fashioned movies and the family traditions and the excitement of gifting presents and decorating the tree, but each year the pressure to have the perfect Christmas always ends in tears. I call it Christmas versus expectation.”

And yet, as the young star tweeted, perhaps all the chaos of Christmas time does in fact make it more memorable. “I hope it makes you smile and think of you and yours this season (as chaotic as they may be!),” Jepsen tweeted.
