Ed Sheeran Tests Positive for Covid-19

On 24th October, Ed Sheeran announced that he had tested positive for Covid-19. The singer took to Instagram to say, “Quick note to tell you that I’ve sadly tested positive for Covid, so I’m now self-isolating and following government guidelines.”

The news came ahead of his highly anticipated fourth studio album titled “=” which is all set to release on 29th October, nearly four years after he began recording it.

“It means that I’m now unable to plough ahead with any in person commitments for now, so I’ll be doing as many of my planned interviews/performances I can from my house,” Sheeran added on Instagram. “Apologies to anyone I’ve let down.”

According to CNN, Ed Sheeran never mentioned anything about being vaccinated. However, in July when he appeared on “The Late Late Show with James Corden” the two changed the lyrics of Sheeran’s hit song, “Shape of You,” with phrases about getting a Covid-19 vaccine.

“Modera or Pfizer will do, You’ll be good after jab number two, but wait two weeks for it to take effect.”

Sheeran testing positive for COVID-19 comes as the U.K. experiences a surge in cases. In the last seven days 328,287 people tested positive, with 949 deaths and 6,720 hospital admissions, according to official government figures. A new variant of the virus is making an impact and some scientists have called for a Plan B, which could mean the return of restrictions like wearing masks, vaccination certificates for venue entry and working from home.
