Saweetie Is All “Grown-ish”
American rapper and ‘Icy Grl’ hitmaker, Saweetie will soon be making her television debut this month. 2021 is surely kicking off on a high for the singer.
Saweetie will star as bossy rapper Indigo in the Yara Shahidi Freeform sitcom starrer, Grown-ish. The sitcom will officially return on 21st January to the network. Shahidi even shared her excitement on Twitter.
The singer tweeted in excitement, “Are y’all ready for Indigo’s mean ass,” on Monday accompanying a 30-second clip of the show’s episode.
Yara Shahidi, Saweetie And Joey Bada$$, Find ‘em All Here!
The show sees Yara Shahidi who portrays the character of Zoey Johnson has officially dropped out of college to pursue being a full-time celebrity stylist for Joey Bada$$. The actor and rapper plays himself on the show as a recurrently featured guest star. The teaser clip shows Zoey worked up and at work on the set of a music video on location at Miami for Joey and Indigo portrayed by Saweetie.
The ‘My Type’ rapper told a source, “I think Indigo is just a little bit of a bi—. She means well, but just sometimes she says the wrong things”. The source also confirmed that Saweetie will guest start in more episodes to come. “My favorite thing about [playing] Indigo was when both her and Yara were on the same page and having a good time. You can just see the love and excitement that Indigo has for [Zoey]. I think the dynamic is like a cool, bossy, sometimes mean big sister to Yara. She loves her, but she just has a hard time showing you.”, the rapper added.
Icy University?
ABC’s spin-off of Black-ish is what Grown-ish is. The show follows Shahidi’s journey through college and adulthood. There couldn’t have been a better show for Saweetie to kickstart her acting career. The rapper, however, has her own Icy University online offering courses varying from “How to Start Your Own Business” to “How to Be a Pretty Bi—“. You can find these on her official YouTube channel.
