Michael Clifford of 5 Seconds of Summer has been accused of sexual harassment. The guitarist/ vocalist of the Australian band has had a rough morning. In light of current affairs, problematic tweets and statements from Clifford’s past were made public.
The tweets, which have since been addressed by Michael Clifford, have been circulating the internet, being called homophobic and sexist. Clifford put out a statement earlier in the day, addressing his past behaviour: “I am so sorry for hurting anyone. It was never my intention. I was so naive and I am beyond sorry. I will continue to be better and I will continue to change. I never want to hurt anyone again.”
Leading from these allegations, an underage girl on Twitter accused Michael Clifford of molesting her after a concert. The allegations levied against Clifford have been heavily denied by him, his team and 5 SOS fans world over. The post read that Michael groped the girl in question when he and the members were walking through an arena after a concert. Michael has refuted these claims in his statement. Take a look.
Fans have rallied behind Michael Clifford, no questions asked. And while 5SOS trends with close to half a million tweets on Twitter, fans are pleading with people to wait for the group to explain themselves. While Michael continues to be the focus of these allegations, fellow members Luke and Callum too, have been named.
The band is yet to put out an official statement. however, a statement from the group’s ex-manager has been doing the rounds.
The group has been riding a wave of success. They released a string of successful singles and their latest album “CALM” has also been received well.
While fans rally behind the band, many spectators are calling them out for dismissing the victim’s claims.
