The Shortlist For Mercury Prize 2022 Has Been Made Public

This year’s Mercury Prize shortlist for 2022 ‘Album Of The Year’ has been made public. 

Twelve albums have been shortlisted for the ‘Album Of The Year’ award at 11 a.m. on 26th July. These albums include Harry Styles’ ‘Harry’s House,’ Little Simz’s ‘Sometimes I Might be Introvert,’ Sam Fender’s ‘Seventeen Going Under,’ Wet Leg’s self-titled album and Yard Act’s ‘The Overload.’

Wet Leg – ‘Wet Leg’

Yard Act – ‘The Overload’

On 8th September, the Eventim Apollo in Hammersmith, London, will host the event’s awards ceremony. A few performers, including Anna Calvi, Hazel Wilde of Lanterns On The Lake, Loyle Carner and Jamie Cullum, together with a number of broadcasters and critics, helped evaluate this year’s award.

The 12 nominees shall receive a specially commissioned ‘Album Of The Year’ trophy, with the overall winner earning a winner trophy and a cash award of £25,000 according to Mercury’s official website.

The FREE NOW mobility app has been named this year’s Mercury Prize’s new headline sponsor as part of a multi-year commitment from FREE NOW to support British music.

Arlo Parks won the 2021 Mercury Prize for her album ‘Collapsed In Sunbeams.’ Parks received a standing ovation when she played the album cut ‘Too Good’ after winning.
