South Korean girl group, TWICE, have made their comeback with a new mini album titled “More & More”. The release is accompanied by the release of a lead single and music video of the same name.
The 7 track mini album, “More & More”, sees TWICE move away from their signature bubblegum pop sound. The girls explore more techno-trap sounds, complete with high energy, tropical beats. The lead single “More & More”, written by Western pop writer-producers Zara Larsson, Justin Tranter and Julia Michaels, and is reflective of their sound entirely.
Making a sharp turn away from their girl next door vibe, TWICE dons the clothes of self-assured, determined lovers, who are out to steal your heart no matter what. Over a high energy tropical dance beat, the girls sing: “Try to avoid my eyes/ Try to run away from me// When you open your eyes/ You’re going to be mine again//”.
The music video is an excessive celebration of colour and tropical splendour. But in the midst of the overwhelming kaleidoscope, TWICE manages to show off some skilled choreography in their signature style.
In what seems to be an attempt to redefine their sound and explore a new facet of pop music, the tracks on the mini album bleed into each other, either being a hit or a miss.
“More & More” is out now on all streaming sites.
