‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight’ Gets 2025 Release Window

HBO’s move to expand the ‘Game of Thrones’ universe comes as no surprise, considering the immense success of ‘House of the Dragon.’ The upcoming prequel series, ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ based on George R. R. Martin’s prequel novellas, marks the next chapter in the franchise. All indications suggest that ‘The Hedge Knight,’ part of ‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms,’ will follow in the footsteps of ‘House of the Dragon’ and the original series, enjoying substantial success in its initial seasons.

‘A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms: The Hedge Knight,’ an HBO drama series set for release in 2025, was unveiled by HBO President Casey Bloys during Warner Bros. Discovery’s upfront presentation last Wednesday. Bloys also disclosed that production for the new show is underway.

‘The Hedge Knight’ unfolds roughly midway between the events of the original series and ‘House of the Dragon,’ about 90 years preceding ‘Game of Thrones.’ Unlike the sprawling ensemble cast of the main series, this spin-off closely follows the perspective of Dunk without interruption. The narrative kicks off with Dunk, a humble knight, venturing into his inaugural tournament as the underdog, accompanied by a mysterious young lad named Egg, who begs to serve as his squire.

The official synopsis teases, “Grand destinies, formidable adversaries, and daring escapades abound in an era when the Targaryen dynasty still holds the Iron Throne and the memory of the last dragon remains vivid in living memory.”
