Adam Sandler says retirement is nowhere in sight and promises he still has plenty of movies left to make.

During a playful and self-aware speech at AARP's Movies for Grownups Awards, which honours creatives over 50 and pushes back against ageism in Hollywood, the 'Jay Kelly' actor joked about being told that winning the award officially meant he was old. He quickly added that the award wasn't the reason he felt that way, pointing out that there were plenty of other signs already reminding him.

Speaking to the crowd at the Beverly Wilshire in Beverly Hills recently, Sandler poked fun at ageing with his signature humour. He joked about everything from needing extra help just to get through daily routines to sending text messages so large they could be read from across an aeroplane. He also laughed about struggling to stay awake while watching awards screeners, admitting that even after starting dozens of films, he only manages a few minutes before dozing off.

Adam Sandler Thanked his Family

Adam Sandler went on to thank his family for standing by him throughout his long career. He gave a heartfelt shoutout to his wife for sticking with him despite the changes that come with age and thanked his children for not teasing him when he walks around the house shirtless.

As he wrapped up his speech, Sandler thanked the many stars in attendance, including George Clooney, Kathy Bates, Noah Wyle, and Laura Dern. He then made a bold and funny promise, telling the audience he plans to make at least 50 more movies before his life and career are over, joking that at least half of them will be good.

Before Adam Sandler took the stage, longtime friend Henry Winkler introduced him with praise. Winkler highlighted Sandler's impact on comedy through films like 'Happy Gilmore,' 'The Wedding Singer,' and '50 First Dates,' while also pointing out his impressive dramatic work in movies such as 'Uncut Gems' and 'Jay Kelly.' He added a final laugh by noting that despite all his success, Adam Sandler has never given up his trademark Hawaiian shirts and athletic shorts.

The actor recently also shared his love for music, revealing that one album he always returns to is Hole's 1994 release 'Live Through This,' which he first fell in love with while touring and listening to it repeatedly in his car.
