Adele Reveals Why She’s Always Annoyed in NBA Photos

Adele caused quite a stir on the internet when a meme of her sitting courtside at an NBA game went viral last year. Now, she’s shedding light on the story behind the iconic image.

During her ‘Weekends with Adele’ residency in Las Vegas, the 35-year-old singer shared some insights into her mood during that memorable moment at the 2022 NBA All-Stars game, as captured in a fan-recorded TikTok video.

“Remember that viral meme of me looking like I don’t give a flying f—? I’d like to give some context to that meme,” Adele told the audience. “I know it sounds crazy, but I really don’t like being famous, right? So obviously, I know I’m sitting courtside at a basketball game, whatever. But Rich [Paul] was working the room and, you know, talking to other players and people. I was fine. I didn’t mind. I was just there on my own, looking for Michael Jordan, to be honest with you.”

She went on to explain why her lips appeared fuller that night, clarifying, “I have naturally big lips… I don’t need filler. The reason I looked like a different person was because I was sulking. Because I was like, ‘These motherf—ers have come back and are filming me against my will.’”

Adele expressed her frustration at being filmed despite her objections. “I just wanted to give some context. Because I was ignored looking everywhere but at the camera. I was just very annoyed because I asked not to be filmed. Also, my face is very memeable. I can’t help it,” she teased.

Adele’s candid stage banter has become a highlight of her residency performances at The Colosseum at Caesars Palace. Recently, she showed her support for Taylor Swift and shared her Super Bowl preferences with the audience, revealing, “I think I want the Chiefs to win.”
