Amul Honours Farhan Akhtar's Role in Sam Mendes' Beatles Film

Indian actor-filmmaker Farhan Akhtar is stepping onto the global stage with his Hollywood debut as legendary sitar maestro Ravi Shankar in upcoming 'The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event.' Director Sam Mendes' epic Beatles saga is generating a lot of excitement at home, and Akhtar's casting has made people proud, even inspired a special celebration doodle from the well-known Indian company Amul.

A Global Phenomenon: The Beatles and Their Cinematic Journey

The Beatles are one of the most influential bands in music history. The legendary band, which was founded in Liverpool in 1960 and consisted of John Lennon, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, and Ringo Starr, transformed popular music, culture, and youth identity worldwide. Now, their extraordinary story is being retold in an ambitious cinematic project titled 'The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,' directed by Oscar-winner Sam Mendes. In contrast to conventional biopics, this project will be divided into four distinct films, each of which will be narrated from the viewpoint of a single band member. 

The films are set to explore their personal hardships, artistic conflicts, relationships, and eventual separation in addition to examining their ascent from working-class Liverpool beginnings to international superstardom. The ambitious set of four biographical films is slated for a global theatrical release on 7th April, 2028. All four films will premiere simultaneously, offering audiences a unique "bingeable" movie experience that tells the story of each Beatle from their own perspective.

Farhan Akhtar's Hollywood Leap as Ravi Shankar

Indian actor and filmmaker Farhan Akhtar has garnered attention for his Hollywood debut in the Beatles biopic amidst the worldwide fervor around it. Akhtar will play the role of the renowned Indian sitar master Ravi Shankar, who played a crucial role in the band's subsequent development, especially in George Harrison's musical and spiritual development. In addition to being a well-known classical musician, Ravi Shankar served as a cultural link between India and the West. Harrison was greatly impacted by his mentorship, which exposed him to Indian classical music and spirituality, which in turn shaped albums like 'Sgt. Amul's Creative Tribute and Farhan's Heartfelt Response

When news broke that Farhan Akhtar would make his Hollywood debut portraying sitar legend Ravi Shankar in 'The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event,' iconic Indian dairy brand Amul marked the milestone with one of its trademark witty doodles. Amul's creative, which is renowned for transforming cultural occasions into lighthearted artwork, included a caricature of Farhan sitting next to Ravi Shankar while both of them were clutching sitars, along with the pun-filled statement, "Sitar turn for Farhan!"—a witty reference to both his position and the brand's iconic humour.

Additionally, Amul celebrated Farhan's casting by posting the doodle on its official Instagram account with the following caption: "Amul Topical: Actor-director all set to make Hollywood debut in Beatles biopic as Ravi Shankar!" Fans quickly flocked around the doodle, applauding Amul's lighthearted homage to the actor's significant occasion as well as the announcement. 

The move clearly touched Farhan himself. Shortly after Amul posted the creative, he reshared it on his own Instagram Stories, tagging the brand's account and wrote, "Aww, thank you," followed by a string of red heart emojis.

His post also drew reactions from loved ones, including his mother Honey Irani, who added clapping and heart emojis in the comments, adding to the warm, celebratory vibe online. 

As anticipation for 'The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event' grows, Akhtar's involvement gives the already enormous production even more cultural significance. With the Beatles' timeless legacy, Sam Mendes' cinematic vision, and Farhan Akhtar's much-celebrated debut, the upcoming film series promises to be both a nostalgic celebration and a fresh exploration of music history.
