The Game Awards 2023 dropped a bombshell; a crossover between 'Apex Legends' and 'Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth' is on its way. While fans were already buzzing about the upcoming 'Final Fantasy Remake' trilogy, the unexpected twist is that 'Rebirth' is making an entrance into 'Apex Legends' before its official release.
'Apex Legends' has dabbled in crossovers before, with nods to series like 'Portal' and 'Half-Life' in past cosmetics and anime-inspired skins during the Gaiden Event. But this 'Final Fantasy' bombshell might just take the cake for Respawn Entertainment.
The big announcement happened during The Game Awards, revealed in an announcement trailer. The collaboration kicks off on 9th January 2024, introducing cosmetics tied to the upcoming Square Enix game.

Horizon and Wraith inspect what seems to be Cloud's iconic Buster Sword stuck in the ground. Crypto pulls it out and the trailer smoothly transitions to in-game footage of the Legend swinging the massive weapon, hinting at its possible usability.

Details on acquiring these 'Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth' cosmetics in 'Apex Legends' are still murky. The game sometimes dishes out themed items through prize trackers, but there's a chance these new skins for Horizon, Crypto and Wraith might only hit the in-game shop via Apex Coins. The developer has yet to spill the beans, so fans are left hanging in suspense.

This crossover adds more to 'Apex Legends,' currently in Season 19, 'Ignite.' The season ushered in a new Legend, Conduit and a revamp of the Storm Point map, featuring fresh POIs like Wattson's Pylon and Ceto Station.
