Grande, known for her mesmerising vocals and distinctive style, donned a custom creation from Loewe, masterfully crafted by Jonathan Anderson. Her ethereal ensemble exuded grace and sophistication, a fitting tribute to the gala’s theme of ‘Sleeping Beauties: Reawakening Fashion.’ On the other hand, Erivo opted for a sleek black tuxedo-style outfit designed by Thom Browne, exuding confidence and timeless elegance.

The 2024 Met Gala, with its theme encapsulating the essence of fashion’s historical evolution, served as a platform for both artists to showcase their styles while paying homage to the event’s rich heritage. This year’s theme is intricately woven with the upcoming Costume Institute exhibit, featuring a curated collection of significant pieces spanning centuries of sartorial evolution, including an exquisite 1877 Charles Frederick Worth silk satin ball gown.

For Grande, this marked a rare appearance at the Met Gala, reminiscent of her previous attendance in 2018 for the Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination theme. On that occasion, she graced the carpet alongside designer Vera Wang, donning a sky-blue gown adorned with a seraphic motif, accentuated by a signature oversized bow ribbon atop her bun.

Erivo’s presence at the Met Gala, a seasoned attendee with six appearances under her belt, encapsulated her unique approach to fashion, as she eloquently described her ensemble as reminiscent of “running through a garden” with a whimsical charm. Embracing elements of her iconic roles, including her memorable portrayal in Wicked, Erivo’s style narrative intertwines with her artistic journey, adding depth and intrigue to her red-carpet presence.
