Ariana Grande Says Her Family “Always Forgets” About Her Veganism
In a recent episode of the YouTube series ‘Hot Ones’, Grammy-winning artist Ariana Grande shared some humorous insights about her plant-based diet and family dynamics. Despite host Sean Evans enjoying vegan wings alongside her, Grande revealed that her family often struggles to remember her dietary choices.
When asked by Evans if she had found a way to harmonize her plant-based diet with her Sicilian-American family’s traditional cooking, Grande responded, “No, it’s so funny because my family always forgets.” She then clarified, “I don’t think they forget; I think they don’t want to remember.”

This sentiment was especially evident when she mentioned her grandmother, who frequently offers her meatballs despite her vegan lifestyle. “My nonna always offers me meatballs and I’m like ‘No, thank you, I’m still plant-based,’” Grande shared with a touch of endearing frustration.
Grande also noted that her brother Frankie Grande’s husband, Hale Leon, who is also vegan, provides her with some solidarity. “I’m not alone, my brother-in-law Hale is vegan, so we have each other,” she said. This shared dietary preference helps navigate family dinners, a topic touched on by Evans during the episode.
The ‘Hot Ones’ episode, titled ‘Ariana Grande Hits a High Note While Eating Spicy Wings’, also featured Grande’s entertaining reactions to increasingly spicy hot wings. Despite her initial apprehensions and preparation with bananas, Tums, and popsicles, Grande handled the spice with surprising ease. “By the way, I’m not coming in proud or cocky or confident,” she admitted to Evans, noting her nervousness at the outset.
Grande’s reactions to the hot sauces were candid, with some described as having “romantic” notes, while others were labelled “disgusting.” Evans observed her reactions to the spicy wings, and Grande explained her distaste for some of the sauces, providing a glimpse into her taste preferences and how she coped with the intense flavours.
