During the span from the 1990s through the 2010s, Cameron Diaz held the title of America’s sweetheart. Following this era, she took a lengthy hiatus from the acting scene. However, in 2014, she returned alongside Jamie Foxx in the musical adaptation of ‘Annie,’ which served as her most recent film until now. Excitement mounts as Netflix has confirmed Diaz’s return to the screen in ‘Back in Action,’ marking her much-anticipated comeback.
The eagerly awaited film, starring Jamie Foxx and Cameron Diaz, is set to premiere on Netflix on 15th November 2024. In recent years, Foxx has forged a solid partnership with Netflix, featuring in various productions such as ‘Day Shift,’ a vampire horror thriller alongside Dave Franco and Natasha Liu Bordizzo.

Directed by Seth Gordon, ‘Back in Action’ revolves around Emily (played by Diaz) and Matt (played by Foxx), a couple who, despite leaving their CIA spy days behind, are drawn back into espionage when their cover is exposed. The ensemble cast includes McKenna Roberts, Glenn Close, Andrew Scott, Jamie Demetriou, Kyle Chandler, and Rylan Jackson, alongside Diaz and Foxx.
After stepping away from Hollywood in 2014 to prioritise family time, Diaz announced her return to the silver screen in 2022, persuaded by Foxx. Filming took place from December 2022 to April of the following year. However, production faced challenges due to Foxx’s alleged disruptive behaviour on set, which Diaz vehemently denied.
Further complicating matters was an undisclosed health scare experienced by Foxx in April of the same year, necessitating the completion of his scenes with body doubles. Fortunately, Foxx has since made a full recovery, allowing ‘Back in Action’ to progress towards its highly anticipated release.
