Ben Affleck had a memorable and challenging experience while filming 'Armageddon'. On the day he shot one of the movie's most emotional scenes—where Bruce Willis' character Harry Stamper switches places with Affleck's A.J. Frost on the asteroid—he was battling food poisoning.
At the time, Ben Affleck was a young actor and didn't feel he could call in sick. He showed up to set despite feeling terrible, and for the first and only time in his career, he was vomiting between takes. A garbage can was placed nearby, and the intense physical toll unexpectedly added to the authenticity of the scene.

Both actors felt fortunate to have worked alongside the film's blockbuster cast, noting Bruce Willis' kindness and generosity on set.
Producer Jerry Bruckheimer also remembered Willis as extremely giving to the crew, often contributing to cash drawings that rewarded hardworking staff. He described Willis as a good friend and a genuinely generous person.
