Beyoncé’s ‘Texas Hold Em’ Hits No.1 Thanks to Powerful Radio Airplay

Following its debut alongside the single ‘16 Carriages’ during the Super Bowl, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ made a significant impact by entering the Hot 100 at No. 2. However, it quickly ascended to the top spot during its first full tracking week, propelled by an impressive 29 million streams and a remarkable surge in radio airplay, which increased by over 200%, reaching 16 million airplay impressions according to data provided by Luminate. This marked a substantial rise from its initial debut of 5 million airplay impressions.

For Beyoncé, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ became her ninth solo No. 1 hit, a notable achievement since her last chart-topper, ‘Break My Soul,’ held the position for two weeks. Before her solo success, Destiny’s Child, with Beyoncé as a member, had secured four Hot 100 No. 1 hits.

Moreover, ‘Texas Hold ‘Em’ made waves beyond the traditional pop genre by making an impressive entry into the top 40 of the Country Airplay chart, reaching No. 34 in its latest tracking week. This unprecedented crossover success raised questions and sparked discussions within the industry about the reception of country songs from Beyoncé, particularly given her history of being primarily promoted to pop radio.

Following its debut at the pinnacle of Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart, where it remains for a second consecutive week, Beyoncé’s historic achievement garnered widespread support from country music icons like Dolly Parton. Notably, Beyoncé became the first woman to top both the Hot Country Songs and Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs charts, joining a select group of artists including Morgan Wallen, Justin Bieber, Billy Ray Cyrus and Ray Charles who have achieved this dual chart-topping feat.

Meanwhile, on the Billboard 200 chart, Kanye West and Ty Dolla $ign’s ‘Vultures’ maintained its No. 1 position for a second straight week. The anticipation builds for the release of the second volume, followed by the third instalment, although these dates are subject to change given West’s history of postponements.

Boasting 70,000 equivalent album units and an impressive 79.15 million streams, ‘2093’ was initially released as a 22-song album with subsequent reissues featuring six bonus tracks. The record features collaborations with notable artists such as Future, Lil Wayne, and Drake and a surprise appearance from Donald Glover on the outro of the intro track, ‘Power Trip’.
