Big Sean Discusses His Upcoming Book, Next Album And Journey as a Father

Big Sean, known offstage as Sean Michael Leonard Anderson, has been candid about his mental health journey since 2019, sharing struggles with depression and anxiety. Now, he's channelling his experiences into a forthcoming book aimed at helping others navigate similar challenges.

Reflecting on his decision to speak out, Big Sean recalls how he initially didn't realise the impact of his openness. "I thought I was just keeping it real with my audience and sharing how I felt," he mentions in an exclusive conversation. "Life has its ups and downs, and that's part of its beauty."

The idea for the book emerged during a podcast interview with Jay Shetty in 2022. Shetty's encouragement struck a chord with Sean, leading to a realisation that his story could resonate on a larger scale. "He kept texting me, saying, 'You've got to write a book,'" Sean recalls. Thus, 'Go Higher: Five Practices for Purpose, Success and Inner Peace' was born, slated for release in October by Simon Element.

Describing the book as more of a workbook than a chore, Sean plans to delve into his five key practices for inner growth and finding self-acceptance and mental wellness. He emphasises that the book isn't just about his journey but about empowering others to embark on their paths to personal fulfilment.

Aside from his literary endeavours, Sean cherishes his role as a father to Noah, whom he shares with partner Jhene Aiko. Their blended family dynamic, including Aiko's daughter Namiko Love from a previous relationship, has added depth to Sean's life. He speaks fondly of the lessons he's learned from Noah, noting how children often become unexpected teachers in life.

‘Go Higher’ is now available for pre-order and is set to hit shelves inviting readers to join Big Sean on a journey of personal growth and discovery.
