Bruce Springsteen has opened up about the emotional complexity of watching Jeremy Allen White portray him in the upcoming biopic ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’, directed by Scott Cooper. The film focuses on the intensely personal period when Springsteen was working on his 1982 album ‘Nebraska’, which he has referred to as one of the most difficult and painful times in his life.
In a conversation with Rolling Stone, Springsteen acknowledged the emotional weight of revisiting that era. He remarked that the filming process felt unusual because the story delves into difficult moments from his past. He explained that he occasionally chose not to be present on set for certain scenes, especially those that were particularly personal. While he made appearances when requested by Cooper, he spent much of the film’s early production period touring in Canada, which kept him on the road and away from the set.
The official trailer for ‘Deliver Me From Nowhere’ was released following its early footage debut at CinemaCon. The film showcases Jeremy Allen White’s portrayal of Springsteen, including scenes where he performs tracks such as the iconic 1975 single ‘Born to Run’. The film also stars Jeremy Strong as Jon Landau, Springsteen’s longtime manager and trusted record producer.

Springsteen noted that both he and Landau were actively involved in the project, with the singer occasionally visiting the set. Reflecting on those experiences, he joked that the experience might have been harder for White than for himself. He said White had been patient and respectful on the days Springsteen was present, adding that he had told the actor to feel free to signal him to leave if his presence ever became a distraction. Springsteen recalled those visits as fun and enjoyable despite the emotionally charged subject matter.
