British actor Callum Turner recently gave a sweet peek into how he and his fiancée Dua Lipa met, and how a smart pickup line helped clinch the deal, in an interview with The Sunday Times. The pair were introduced ahead of a mutual friend's birthday in Los Angeles, and spontaneously found themselves sitting next to each other and reading the same book—'Trust' by Hernán Díaz—without realizing it.

"I just finished the first chapter," and she said, "I just finished the first chapter too," and I said, "So we're on the same page," Turner recalled the incident. It was a simple, informal comment, but it conveyed something far more profound between them.

From Rumors to Engagement

Turner and Lipa's relationship first sparked headlines in January 2024 when they were spotted together after the premiere of Turner's series 'Masters of the Air.' Then later, in a July 2025 cover interview with British Vogue, Lipa announced their engagement and talked about how the personalized engagement ring Turner made, with advice from her family and friends, felt "so me." 

Following their red carpet debut at the 2025 Met Gala, the couple has been spotted supporting each other’s accomplishments: Turner is getting ready for his forthcoming projects like 'Atropia,' while Lipa is leading her 'Radical Optimism' tour. They say that "If you can go for two days, just f*****g go" is their motto for long-distance romance.

Looking Ahead

As Turner and Lipa move forward, it seems that the focus is pleasantly shifting from spectacle to foundation. According to Turner, genuine love is "an amalgamation" of large and tiny actions as well as constant work rather than a single extravagant gesture.
