Paramount Pictures has unveiled the first trailer look at 'Roofman', a quirky, emotionally-charged crime drama starring Channing Tatum and Kirsten Dunst as an unlikely duo drawn together by destiny—and a string of daring rooftop robberies.

Directed by 'Blue Valentine' filmmaker Derek Cianfrance, 'Roofman' tells the bizarre yet gripping story of Jeffrey Manchester, a former Army Ranger played by Tatum. After being imprisoned for robbing several McDonald’s locations using rooftop break-ins, Jeffrey escapes from custody and finds refuge in a surprisingly unusual place: an abandoned Toys “R” Us store.

Hidden deep within the toy store’s forgotten aisles, Jeffrey transforms the empty retail space into his own bizarre sanctuary—gliding past shelves on roller skates, curling up on a kid-sized mattress at night, and surviving on a steady diet of candy left behind. All the while, he keeps one step ahead of the law, blending into the shadows of a place built for childhood dreams.

As a media broadcast plays in the background, it's clear authorities remain baffled—six months on, they still have no leads on his whereabouts.

More about the 'Roofman' Plot

Through a voiceover, Jeffrey reflects on his life, revealing that he’s never truly fit in, nor does he consider himself someone capable of harming others. His character appears as a flawed but deeply human individual struggling to outrun both the law and his own regrets.

The narrative in 'Roofman' shifts when Jeffrey crosses paths with Leigh, a single mother working at the store, portrayed by Dunst. Intrigued by her kindness and resilience, he secretly observes her as she prepares for a toy drive that her boss dismisses. Wanting to connect, Jeffrey takes a risk—he shows up at the event and donates stolen toys, setting the stage for an unexpected and tender relationship.

As their bond deepens, Jeffrey begins to question his plans to flee the country. Despite holding a new identity and passport, he is torn between escaping justice and staying to pursue the connection he’s found with Leigh.

'Roofman' boasts a star-studded supporting cast including Ben Mendelsohn, LaKeith Stanfield, Peter Dinklage, among others. The screenplay was co-written by Derek Cianfrance and Kirt Gunn, with both Cianfrance and Tatum serving as executive producers.

The movie continues Tatum’s dynamic post-'Magic Mike' filmography following 'Fly Me to the Moon' and 'Blink Twice', while Dunst returns after powerful performances in 'Civil War' and the Oscar-nominated 'The Power of the Dog'.

'Roofman' arrives in theatres on 10th October 2025, blending crime, romance, and offbeat humour into one of the year’s most unique cinematic stories.
