Charli XCX Jokes About Being ‘Such a B**ch’ to Fiancé George Daniel

Charli XCX believes in fostering healthy competition when working in the studio with her fiancé, George Daniel. In an interview, the ‘Speed Drive’ singer shared insights about collaborating with ‘The 1975’ drummer on her upcoming album, ‘BRAT.’

Charli revealed that the dynamic between her and George in the studio is unique because of their close relationship. She admitted to being particularly demanding during their sessions, pushing boundaries that might normally exist in a professional setting. This intensity stems from their desire to impress each other and their mutual respect for each other’s talents.

Despite the challenges, Charli praised George’s ability to create a comfortable and creative environment, allowing her to fully express herself. She highlighted how well they work together, with George providing the space needed for her artistic process.

Discussing her forthcoming album, Charli emphasised its core as a club record, driven by her passion for electronic music. She explained that club music resonates deeply with her, evoking emotions of sadness, beauty, and stillness. This genre, she noted, affects her on a near-chemical level, contrasting with her feelings about traditional pop shows or band performances, despite George’s involvement in a band.

Charli also reflected on the new experience of being in a relationship with someone she collaborates with professionally. She found this dynamic exciting, as it brought a fresh perspective to her creative process. The album will feature a few tracks that George worked on, showcasing their joint efforts.

The couple first connected while working on the single ‘Spinning’ with ‘The 1975’ and ‘No Rome’. George later produced several tracks on Charli’s album, Crash, and the song ‘Hot Girl (Bodies Bodies Bodies)’ for the A24 horror film Bodies Bodies Bodies. Charli officially announced their engagement by sharing photos with George on her public Instagram, after initially revealing the news to her fans on her private account with a post of her engagement ring.
