Charli xcx is making it very clear that her Hollywood era is only warming up—and she's just getting started.
The 33-year-old British pop star takes on a dramatic new role in 'Erupcja', a film directed by Pete Ohs and co-written by Ohs, Lena Góra, Will Madden, Jeremy O. Harris, and Charli herself. The title, which means eruption in Polish, sets the tone for a story filled with emotional and literal explosions.
About 'Erupcja'
In the trailer released on 10th February, Charli xcx plays Bethany, a woman vacationing in Warsaw, Poland, with her soon-to-be fiancé, Rob, played by Madden. Their romantic getaway takes a chaotic turn when a volcanic eruption leaves them stranded.
Check Out the Trailer:
Instead of panicking, Bethany sees the disaster as a wake-up call. According to the film's synopsis, she treats the eruption as a sign to leave her emotional baggage behind. She reconnects with her childhood friend Nel, played by Góra, and the two drift through Warsaw's lofts, clubs and hidden back alleys. Along the way, Bethany becomes caught in a complicated emotional situation that forces her to question who she really is.
In the trailer, Nel asks Bethany what her issue is with Rob, pointing out that he seems like a really nice guy. Bethany admits that he is nice. Nel suggests that nice can be a good thing, but Bethany pushes back, saying that sometimes nice just feels boring. At another moment, Bethany confesses that being with Rob does not make her world shake.
