Chris Hemsworth in Talks to Lead ‘Transformers’ and ‘G.I. Joe’ Crossover Movie

Chris Hemsworth is set to potentially join another major franchise, with discussions underway for him to star in the highly anticipated crossover between the ‘Transformers’ and ‘G.I. Joe’ series from Paramount.

Following his roles as Marvel’s Thor and the villain Dementus in George Miller’s ‘Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga,’ Hemsworth is now in talks to headline this new cinematic venture. The crossover was hinted at in last year’s ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts’ and was officially confirmed at this year’s CinemaCon.

In ‘Transformers: Rise of the Beasts,’ the crossover was foreshadowed in a pivotal scene where Anthony Ramos’ character, Noah, encounters Agent Burke, played by Michael Kelly. After helping the Autobots save the world, Noah is given a business card revealing that Burke works for the G.I. Joes, setting the stage for the two ’80s franchises to collide on the big screen for the first time.

Producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura emphasized the organic integration of the G.I. Joe storyline into the Transformers universe. “Noah goes from somebody who cannot get a job, to a guy who gets the greatest job ever. It really felt organic to put it in here because you could relate it to the story,” di Bonaventura told Variety. He assured fans that the integration was thoughtfully planned and not merely a marketing strategy. “The fans want a lot of things; if we do it and we don’t figure it out well, they’re going to be disappointed.”

This wouldn’t be Hemsworth’s first foray into the Transformers universe. He is already voicing a young Optimus Prime (Orion Pax) in the animated movie ‘Transformers One,’ which is set to release on 20th September.

The crossover film boasts an impressive production team, including producers di Bonaventura, Mark Vahradian, Michael Bay, Tom DeSanto, and Don Murphy. Steven Spielberg and Hasbro Entertainment will serve as executive producers, promising a high-octane cinematic experience.
