Christian Bale fully embraces his darker side in his upcoming film 'The Bride!,' directed by Maggie Gyllenhaal. The movie reimagines Mary Shelley's classic story and features Bale, 52, as Frankenstein's monster, who calls himself Frank. Jessie Buckley stars opposite him as the Bride in the stylised retelling, which hits theatres on 6th March.
To transform into the resurrected creature each day, Bale spent about six hours in the makeup chair. The lengthy process pushed him to create a daily ritual to stay focused and protect his sanity. He would scream at the top of his lungs to release built-up frustration and the stillness required during the long makeup sessions.

What started as a personal coping method quickly turned into a bonding experience on set. Bale avoided doing it alone or on his way to work, worried it might alarm people or cause an accident. Eventually, crew members joined in after hearing the noise, and the makeup trailer became a place where dozens of people gathered to let loose and scream together.
The set soon became an outlet for releasing tension, with more and more people running in to take part. The experience helped build camaraderie among the cast and crew during the intense shoot.

Jessie Buckley Praises Christian Bale
Jessie Buckley, 36, said working with Christian Bale was thrilling but exhausting. She described their on-screen pairing as intense and high-energy, comparing them to unleashed greyhounds. While it was one of the most demanding shoots of her career, she said it was also incredibly fun.
'The Bride!' also stars Peter Sarsgaard, Jake Gyllenhaal, Annette Bening, Penélope Cruz and Julianne Hough. Gyllenhaal acknowledged that the film arrives shortly after Guillermo del Toro's recent take on 'Frankenstein,' though she noted the two projects approach the story in very different ways.
'The Bride!' opens in theatres on 6th March. Bale is also set to appear next in the biopic 'Madden,' starring opposite Nicolas Cage.
