Courteney Cox Reflects on Feeling Matthew Perry’s Presence After His Passing

Courteney Cox continues to feel the presence of her dear friend and co-star Matthew Perry, months after his death in October at age 54. In a recent interview with CBS Sunday Morning’s Jonathan Vigliotti, Cox, 59, reminisced about Perry, describing him as “one of the funniest human beings in the world.”

Cox shared, “He’s just so funny. He had a genuinely huge heart. Obviously, he struggled, but I’m so thankful I got to work so closely with him for so many years.”

Despite his physical absence, Cox feels Perry’s presence in her life. “He visits me a lot if we believe in that,” she said, adding that she often talks to her parents and Perry. “I feel like there are a lot of people that guide us. I do sense, yeah, I sense Matthew’s around for sure.”

Shortly after Perry passed away, Cox and her fellow ‘Friends’ co-stars Jennifer Aniston, Lisa Kudrow, David Schwimmer, and Matt LeBlanc sent a statement to CNN expressing their grief. “The loss of Matthew has hurt us all so much. We were not just coworkers on the show. The group wrote, “We are a family.”

Following Perry’s death from acute effects of ketamine, Cox expressed her gratitude for their time together in a heartfelt Instagram post. She shared a favourite moment from ‘Friends,’ where Monica and Chandler’s storyline evolved from a one-night fling to a central love story due to audience reaction. Cox recalled Perry’s habit of whispering funny lines to her before takes, highlighting his humour and kindness.

In honour of the 20th anniversary of the ‘Friends’ finale earlier this month, Cox reflected on the emotional journey, expressing her gratitude in an Instagram post, “Forever grateful .”
