Daniel Radcliffe is looking back at one of the toughest moments he faced while filming 'Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire'—and it involved a frightening underwater scare.

Speaking on a recent episode of 'Hot Ones,' Radcliffe shared details about the intense six-week shoot for the film's underwater scenes. During dive training, he and the crew practised basic safety drills, including exercises where he had to remove his breathing regulator, hold his breath, and then clear it before breathing again.

At one point, he accidentally took the regulator out without first taking a proper breath. When he tried to put it back in, he realised he did not have enough air left to clear it. He quickly signalled that he needed to be pulled out of the water—the standard distress sign for drowning.

After surfacing, stunt coordinator Greg Powell calmly told him that he likely would not make that mistake again. Daniel Radcliffe admitted the lesson stayed with him.

Daniel Radcliffe's Demanding Underwater Shoot

The actor also revealed just how demanding the shoot was. Filming lasted six weeks, and he later learned that they averaged only about five seconds of usable footage per day. Looking back, he said the experience was so challenging that he would never want to repeat something like that again.

Daniel Radcliffe famously played Harry Potter across all eight films in the blockbuster franchise from 2001 to 2011. Production has now begun on a new television adaptation set in the Wizarding World, with a fresh cast stepping into the iconic roles.

Recently, Daniel Radcliffe shared that he has stayed in touch with former co-stars Rupert Grint and Emma Watson. The trio have reflected on how surreal it feels to watch a new generation of young actors begin the same journey they started many years ago.
