Jason Segel and Samara Weaving face off in the twisted new dark comedy 'Over Your Dead Body'.
PEOPLE has an exclusive first look at the trailer ahead of the film's world premiere at South by Southwest in March. Segel, 46, and Weaving, 33, play a married couple whose relationship has deteriorated to the point where each secretly decides the only solution is to kill the other.
What is 'Over Your Dead Body' About?
The story follows the dysfunctional pair as they retreat to a remote cabin in an attempt to reconnect. Instead, both arrive with their own deadly plans, setting the stage for a chaotic and darkly funny showdown.

The film also stars Timothy Olyphant, Paul Guilfoyle, Juliette Lewis, and Keith Jardine. It is directed by Jorma Taccone of 'The Lonely Island,' marking his first feature directing project since 2016's 'Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping.'
Samara Weaving and Jorma Taccone Share on 'Over Your Dead Body'
Samara Weaving says the set was one of the funniest experiences of her career. She explains that it was nearly impossible to keep a straight face while Segel improvised scenes and Taccone threw out wildly creative ideas from behind the monitors. She also admits she was in awe of the cast and jokes that her greatest performance may have been pretending she wasn't completely starstruck.
Taccone describes the film as funny, bloody and full of surprises. 'Over Your Dead Body' is a remake of the 2021 Norwegian thriller 'The Trip,' directed by Tommy Wirkola, who serves here as an executive producer and co-writer.

Looking back on production, Taccone recalls bonding with the cast through saunas, freezing lake plunges, homemade videos and even Thanksgiving dinner in Finland. He jokes that he acted like an all-powerful father figure on set, before admitting they had an incredible time making the movie together.
For Weaving, the highlight is the film's mix of horror and comedy, which she says hits the same stomach-clenching reaction as both laughter and fear. She playfully guarantees audiences will leave the theatre feeling like they just did an intense ab workout, adding that any complaints should be directed at Taccone.
'Over Your Dead Body' premieres at SXSW on 14th March and arrives in theatres on 24th April.
