David Fincher Has Reportedly Been Working on a ‘Squid Game’ Remake For 2 Years

David Fincher is rumoured to be working on a remake of Netflix’s hit South Korean series, ‘Squid Game.’ According to The Playlist, Fincher has been developing the project for about two years. However, neither Netflix nor the renowned ‘Fight Club’ director have officially confirmed this yet.

Reports suggest that Fincher was inspired to take on the ‘Squid Game’ remake soon after the original series was released in 2021. The show became a cultural phenomenon, leading to a reality competition spin-off and a highly anticipated second season. For his version, Fincher has reportedly enlisted Dennis Kelly, known for his work on ‘Matilda The Musical’ and TV shows like ‘Utopia’ and ‘The Third Day.’

This news follows Netflix CEO Ted Sarandos’s firm dismissal of rumours about an American ‘Squid Game’ remake earlier this year. During a press event at Netflix’s South Korea offices, Sarandos clearly stated that any talk of a remake was unfounded.

The second season of ‘Squid Game’ is set to premiere this December. When the original series was released in 2021, it received rave reviews.
