DDG Opens Up on Halle Bailey’s Unplanned Pregnancy: ‘It Kinda Just Happened’

DDG and Halle Bailey discovered their parental calling in a destined moment. In an exclusive preview of ‘The Jason Lee Show,’ the 26-year-old YouTuber opened up about the realization with the 23-year-old actress, known for her role in ‘The Color Purple’, during a conversation with the host.

In the clip, DDG candidly admitted that becoming a parent was not a planned attempt. When asked about the couple’s journey to parenthood, he remarked, “It kinda just happened. We weren’t aiming for a baby, but it just kinda happened. What are we going to do?”

Lee noted the busy schedules of the young couple, who publicly announced their relationship in March 2022 and questioned how they navigated the decision to have a child amidst their individual successes and public scrutiny, especially regarding Bailey’s prominent role in Disney’s live-action remake of ‘The Little Mermaid’.

“It’s a very big adult conversation in your early 20s,” Lee commented on the couple’s choice to continue with the pregnancy during a time of heightened attention. DDG explained, “Both of us have the same interest in being parents. And I feel like she always wanted to be a mom. We always kind of just give off that energy, and I always wanted a kid. So, from there we just made the decision to go through with it.”

In an exclusive interview earlier this month, the couple shared details about their first date and the inspiration behind the name ‘Halo’ for their baby boy born in December. Bailey mentioned, “It was actually my boyfriend’s idea,” referring to DDG when discussing the choice of the name. However, she remained coy about whether the name was linked to Beyoncé’s song ‘Halo.’

DDG, recalling their initial outing, shared an amusing anecdote about their first date at an Ethiopian restaurant and how it led to an unexpected movie night. He humorously reflected, “And now we here with a baby.”
