In her Instagram post, Lovato introduces her new cooking series with enthusiasm: “Welcome to ✨Cooking With Demi✨ A not-so official series where I test out my skills in the kitchen and start to find freedom and joy again with food. First up, fudge brownies! 👩🏻‍🍳🖤” The video showcases her making brownies using both unsweetened baking chocolate and semisweet or bittersweet chocolate chips, with a few humorous hiccups along the way.

Lovato’s playful commentary includes moments like questioning if her mixture is well-combined and noting, “They’re supposed to be room temperature and they’re not, so we’ll see how this goes” when cracking the eggs. Despite the minor mishaps, the end result is a batch of brownies that she proudly exclaims, “We did it!”

The video ends with Lovato joyfully dancing to a remix of Tinashe’s “Nasty” while playfully referencing the lyrics, “Is somebody gonna match my freak?” She also humorously adds, “(spend the weekend baking and in bed by 9 pm every night).”

Lovato’s relationship with sweets has evolved significantly. Previously, she shared that she spent years avoiding birthday cakes in favour of watermelon cake with “fat-free whipped cream.” Her song “Melon Cake” marked a celebratory shift, as she sings, “No more melon cakes on birthdays / No more barricades in doorways,” embracing her newfound freedom to celebrate on her own terms.
