Denis Villeneuve Confirms ‘Dune: Part Three’ is in Development

The existence of ‘Dune: Part Three’ has been confirmed by Variety, and Denis Villeneuve will be helming the continuation of the grand science fiction saga. Building on the popularity of the first two parts, which split up Frank Herbert’s dense novel, the next movie is anticipated to take inspiration from Herbert’s later work, ‘Dune Messiah.’

The story is expected to follow Paul Atreides (played by Timothée Chalamet) as he struggles with the serious ramifications of his newfound role as Freeman’s messiah, even though specific plot details have not yet been revealed.

Legendary has not yet revealed a production schedule for ‘Dune: Part Three,’ but the company hopes to have it finished before Villeneuve moves on to his next endeavour, which is a movie adaptation of Annie Jacobsen’s Pulitzer Prize-nominated novel ‘Nuclear War: A Scenario.’

Villeneuve stressed in a recent interview how crucial it is to make sure that any new instalment of the franchise outperforms the ones that came before it. He stressed the need for a strong screenplay and said he would only consider ‘Dune Messiah’ if it was better than “Part Two.”
