Drake's Mansion Floods: "This Better be Espresso Martini," He Jokes in Shared Footage

The Canadian rapper did his best to make light of a less-than-ideal situation when his home flooded during recent rain storms in Canada. “This better be Espresso Martini,” he wrote over a video posted to his Instagram Stories, showing the muddy floodwaters rushing into his house.

In the clip, an unidentified individual wearing all-black is seen trying to close French doors as the water accumulates throughout the room. With only the sound of rushing water, Drake pans the camera down to his feet, which are submerged up to his mid-calves.

He’s holding a broom, presumably trying to guide the water away. Although the Grammy winner did not tag his location in the video, his hometown of Toronto has been experiencing severe weather, including flooding.

Environment Canada recently lifted its heavy rainfall warning for Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, following significant flooding that impacted the city’s subway system. This kind of weather has been challenging for many residents, including high-profile ones like Drake.

Drake’s mansion, which he often describes with great pride, was not spared. “The bedroom is where I come to decompress from the world at the end of the night and where I open my eyes to seize the day,” he once said of his 3,200-square-foot suite, which has an additional 1,100 square feet of covered terraces. “The bed lets you float, the shower lets you escape and gather your thoughts, and the closet makes you want to talk to yourself while you’re getting dressed.”

“It's an overwhelming luxury,” he added. "That message is delivered through the size of the rooms and the materials and details of the floors and the ceilings. I wanted to make sure people can see the work I’ve put in over the years reflected from every vantage point.” Despite the flood, Drake's sense of humour and appreciation for his luxurious home remains intact.
