Drew Barrymore Confirms ‘Happy Gilmore 2’ Is Happening

The much-loved comedy ‘Happy Gilmore’ is getting a sequel, according to Drew Barrymore. In a sneak peek from an upcoming episode of ‘The Drew Barrymore Show,’ the TV host and actor shared the exciting news that Adam Sandler has written the screenplay for ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’
In the video, Barrymore showed her excitement for the endeavour by mentioning that she recently watched ‘Billy Madison,’ another classic film by Sandler, with her daughter and contacted him regarding the follow-up. She revealed shocking news later in the video, saying that the sequel is being worked on.

Christopher McDonald, who played the film’s antagonist, Shooter McGavin, had hinted at this confirmation before. During an interview, McDonald made hints about the follow-up, saying that Sandler had shown him the initial draft of ‘Happy Gilmore 2.’
However, it appears that there may have been an early leak of the sequel’s information. During a recent talk show appearance, Sandler joked that he had warned McDonald not to reveal any information about the sequel, but that McDonald might have told a few DJs.

Though there is much anticipation for the follow-up, the announcement is bittersweet because it coincides with the demise of Carl Weathers, the actor who starred in the first ‘Happy Gilmore.’ As they remember the late actor and his contributions to the film industry, fans and colleagues have been paying their respects.
