Dwayne Johnson has shared behind-the-scenes insight into a heartfelt tribute he included for the late Robin Williams in the upcoming and final 'Jumanji' movie.

The 53-year-old actor spoke about the moment while attending the Golden Globes First-Time Nominee Celebration in Beverly Hills recently. The event honoured stars who earned their first-ever Golden Globe nominations and celebrated their achievements.

Dwayne Johnson on Honouring Robin Williams

Johnson explained that he felt strongly about honouring Williams, who passed away in 2014 at age 63, but initially struggled to find the right way to do it. The idea ultimately came together thanks to the film's costume designer, Laura Jean Shannon, who suggested using the original dice from the 1995 'Jumanji' film. That simple but meaningful detail became the tribute.

The dice appear as an Easter egg in the movie and carry special significance. Dwayne Johnson later revealed on Instagram that he wore the dice around his neck throughout filming as a sign of respect. He described the necklace as a way to honour Robin Williams and recognise the legacy of the franchise Williams helped create, especially as the series reaches its final chapter.

Robin Williams starred in the original 'Jumanji' alongside Kirsten Dunst, Bradley Pierce, Bonnie Hunt, and David Alan Grier. He played Alan Parrish, a man trapped inside the magical board game for 26 years before being freed by two children.

Dwayne Johnson joined the franchise with the 2017 reboot 'Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle,' co-starring Kevin Hart, Jack Black, Karen Gillan, and Nick Jonas. The modern films reimagined Jumanji as a video game that pulls teenagers into an adventurous virtual world. 'Jumanji: The Next Level,' a sequel film, came out in 2019.

Hart, Gillan, and Black are all set to return alongside Dwayne Johnson for the final instalment, which is scheduled to hit theatres on 11th December 2026.
