Ed Sheeran Jokes He’d ‘Be a Virgin’ Without Music Career
During his ongoing Mathematics Tour, the Grammy-winning singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran recently shared an amusing clip from a stadium in Lithuania where he was performing. In the video, Sheeran is seen sitting on the floor of the stadium, but he isn’t just taking a break. Instead, he was engaged in a playful gaming session, using the stadium’s jumbotron to play Pokémon Stadium.
Sheeran humorously remarked, “If I wasn’t a musician, I’d be a virgin,” while showcasing his Nintendo Switch connected to the big screen. He captioned the clip, “Pokemon Stadium in the stadium,” and added a range of hashtags, including “#superawesomewickedcool #wannacometomybirthdayparty #itlbefunpromise #cake.” The playful comment received a positive reaction from fans, with one noting a similarity to a previous comment made by Harry Styles.

In response to the fan’s reference to Harry Styles, Sheeran jokes, “But who do you actually believe let’s be honest.” Another fan playfully questioned Sheeran’s past statements about video games, writing, “So years ago when you said you didn’t like video games you were lying 😂💙.” Sheeran’s witty retort was, “Pokémon isn’t a video game, it’s a lifestyle choice.”
Sheeran has a long history with Pokémon, having his track “Celestial” featured in the games Pokémon Scarlet and Pokémon Violet. Reflecting on his connection to the franchise, Sheeran shared, “I’ve played Pokémon since I was in primary school,” explaining that he and his brother used to trade Pokémon to complete their Pokédex.
He described how Pokémon provided an escape from negative aspects of his life and school, saying, “It was a world I could escape into, and I’ve played it ever since.” Despite his enthusiasm for Pokémon, Sheeran has maintained a minimalist approach to electronics.
On the talk show ‘Therapuss with Jake Shane’, Sheeran revealed that he hasn’t had a phone since 2015, preferring to communicate via email instead. He explained, “I have something to like, video stuff that would then go up on social media,” but clarified that it isn’t an active working phone.
