Prince Harry and William’s Rift: ‘Very Bad’ But Not ‘Irreparable,’ Royal Insider Reveals

Prince Harry’s relationship with the royal family is currently strained, with efforts to communicate with King Charles and Prince William often going unanswered. A royal insider describes the rift with William as severe but not beyond repair.
The last time Harry and William appeared together was in September 2022 at Windsor Castle following Queen Elizabeth’s death. At King Charles’ coronation in May 2023, Harry was notably distant, sitting two rows behind William while Meghan stayed in the U.S.

The discord between the brothers reportedly began in 2016 when William questioned the speed of Harry’s relationship with Meghan. Harry’s memoir, ‘Spare,’ details their complicated relationship, including moments of verbal and physical conflict. When Harry returned to the U.K. for the Invictus Games’ anniversary in May, he did not meet with his family.
His attempts to discuss security concerns with the King have been ignored, despite Harry believing that Charles could influence the situation.

The rift became public in 2020 when Harry and Meghan stepped back from their royal duties. Security remains Harry’s primary concern, feeling only his father can resolve it. Despite a brief positive interaction earlier this year, communication has deteriorated. Harry remains committed to protecting his family, hoping for a resolution that could mend his relationship with his father and brother.
