Eddie Murphy has announced that Donkey, the fan-favourite character from the 'Shrek' series, will soon be starring in his very own spin-off film. According to Eddie Murphy, voice work on 'Shrek 5' is still underway, with production about two years in. Once those sessions conclude, development will immediately shift to the Donkey-led spin-off, which is set to begin in September. The film is expected to hit screens within the next three years.

The spin-off will explore Donkey’s personal life and adventures, focusing on his relationship with his dragon wife and their unique hybrid children.
