Elle King Opens Up About Strained Relationship With Father Rob Schneider

Elle King recently got candid about her challenging relationship with her father, actor Rob Schneider, during a discussion on the ‘Dumb Blonde’ podcast with Bunnie XO. In a teaser shared on TikTok, King didn’t hold back, openly criticising Schneider’s views on drag and LGBTQ+ rights, saying she strongly disagrees with him.

In the podcast, King expressed her frustration, stating, “I disagree with a lot of the things that he says, you’re talking out of your a** and you’re talking shi* about drag and, you know, anti-gay rights. And it’s like, get fu**ed.” This outburst follows Schneider’s public disapproval of a segment during the Olympic opening ceremony in July that featured drag queens, which he felt disrespected Christianity.

Schneider voiced his displeasure on X (formerly Twitter), where he wrote, “I am sorry to say to all the world’s greatest athletes, I wish you all the best, but I cannot watch an Olympics that disrespects Christianity and openly celebrates Satan. I sincerely hope these Olympics get the same amount of viewers as CSPAN.”

He further added, “Guys with their genitalia hanging out in front of children?! Drag Queens?! I wasn’t sure if I was watching the Olympics or if I was watching a school board meeting.”

During the podcast, King also reflected on her strained relationship with Schneider throughout her childhood. She shared that they were not close when she was growing up and only began to connect with him later in life. As a child, she spent time on movie sets with him but often felt neglected and would get into trouble if she disturbed the filming.

“If I ever messed up a shot, if I was talking, I would get in fucking trouble,” King revealed. She also discussed how her father’s disapproval of her appearance led to significant tension, recalling how he sent her to a weight-loss camp when she was heavy and criticised her for not losing weight after an injury.

King also noted that her father’s opposition to her self-expression, including her tattoos, added to their conflict. “I had already started getting tattooed and it was like 108 degrees. So I had to wear sweaters because my dad was very anti-tattoos or any form of self-expression,” she said.
