Emma Stone is making it very clear that she has no plans to step into the role of an iconic Muppet.

In a new interview with W Magazine published recently, the 37-year-old actress shut down rumours that she will play Miss Piggy in an upcoming movie she is producing with Jennifer Lawrence.

Emma Stone on Playing Miss Piggy

Emma Stone made it known she sees Miss Piggy as untouchable, joking that the idea of her playing the beloved character would be an insult. She emphasised that Miss Piggy is already a true star and far greater than either herself or Lawrence. Stone added that neither of them would ever try to replace the legendary Muppet, insisting that Miss Piggy can only be played by Miss Piggy herself.

The project was first revealed by Lawrence in November 2025 during an appearance on the 'Las Culturistas' podcast. She shared that she and Stone are producing a Miss Piggy movie, with Cole Escola writing the script. Lawrence also hinted that the two longtime friends may appear in the film, noting that it feels overdue that they have not worked together on a movie before.

The upcoming film will mark the first on-screen collaboration between Emma Stone and Jennifer Lawrence, who have been friends for years.

Stone's interview coincides with the release of her 2025 film 'Bugonia,' directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, which earned her a Golden Globe nomination. She was also nominated the previous year for her performances in 'The Curse' and 'Poor Things,' ultimately winning for 'Poor Things.'

Reflecting on that role, Emma Stone shared that she still deeply misses playing Bella, the unconventional character at the centre of 'Poor Things.' She admitted she would happily return to the role if given the chance, though she joked that even Lanthimos has told her it's time to move on.
