Neil Diamond had a special surprise waiting for Hugh Jackman.

To celebrate Jackman's new film 'Song Sung Blue,' in which he plays one half of a Neil Diamond tribute duo, the legendary singer gifted the actor a signed guitar. The thoughtful present marked Diamond’s support of the movie and Jackman's performance.

Jackman, 57, shared a video on Instagram showing the moment he opened the gift. Clearly stunned, he carefully lifted the guitar from its case and hugged it, turning to the camera in disbelief as he realised it came from Neil Diamond. He thanked the music icon with visible excitement.

Hugh Jackman's One of The Incredible Gifts

In his caption, Hugh Jackman described the guitar as one of the most incredible gifts he has ever received and said he will treasure it forever. He also posted a photo of Neil Diamond, now 84, holding the instrument, which included a personal message wishing Jackman to keep rocking and signing it as a friend.

In 'Song Sung Blue,' Jackman stars as Mike Sardina, who performs alongside his wife Claire in a Neil Diamond tribute act known as Lightning and Thunder. The duo gained attention in the mid-1990s, and their story inspired the film, which is based on a 2008 documentary. While the movie is not about Diamond himself, his music plays a major role throughout.

Craig Brewer Shared Neil Diamond's Reaction to 'Song Sung Blue'

Director and writer Craig Brewer revealed that Neil Diamond watched a screening of the film and reacted very positively. According to Brewer, Diamond was visibly moved, tapping along to the music, applauding after songs, and even becoming emotional. He was so engaged that he asked when he could watch it again.

Brewer said Diamond's response meant a great deal to him and praised the singer's lasting impact as a songwriter. He emphasised that Diamond's songs are deeply personal creations that continue to resonate because of the emotion behind them.

Over the past few months, Neil Diamond and Hugh Jackman have also formed a friendship. At the film's premiere in December, Jackman shared that he had even spent the night at Diamond's home in Colorado, where the two enjoyed karaoke together. Jackman explained that Diamond had never before allowed his music catalogue to be used so freely in a film, but fully embraced the story of Mike and Claire, which helped make the movie possible.
