Emma Stone Reveals SNL’s Rule on Five-Timers Club Members Keeping Jacket

The esteemed Academy Award-winning actress graced the iconic stage of the late-night comedy institution for her fifth hosting stint, thereby joining the illustrious ranks of SNL’s ‘Five-Timers Club.’

As is tradition for the club’s inductees, Emma Stone was ceremoniously presented with a special jacket after her memorable opening monologue. Little did she anticipate the ensuing revelation that she would not be permitted to retain this coveted garment.

During a recent guest appearance on The Tonight Show, Stone candidly recounted her surprise upon learning that she would not be allowed to keep the distinctive jacket. Expressing a mixture of amusement and disbelief, she remarked, “That’s what’s so strange. I don’t wanna blow up their spot because, again, it’s my favourite place, but they don’t want you to keep the jacket. It’s like, a thing!” Despite her initial assumption that the jacket would be a memento of her milestone achievement, she soon discovered otherwise.

Reflecting on the humorous exchange with host Jimmy Fallon, Stone recalled the moment when she asserted her intention to take the jacket home with her. “They’re like, ‘You know you’re not keeping the jacket. You’re just wearing it for the monologue,’” she recounted with a chuckle. Undeterred by the studio’s policy, she playfully affirmed, “No. I’ll be taking it with me, I’ll be wearing it to [the] after-party, and I’ll be taking it home.” With a sheepish grin, she admitted, “And I did take it home! That’s right! But they also know where to find me.”

During her heartfelt monologue on SNL, Stone shared the stage with comedy legends Tina Fey and Candice Bergen, marking her induction into the Five-Timers Club as its youngest member at 35. Amidst lighthearted banter about gender inclusivity and the club’s evolution into a sanctuary for emotional release, Fey ceremoniously draped the cherished velvet jacket, adorned in purple and black, over Stone’s shoulders.

Beaming with joy, Stone expressed her gratitude, declaring, “This is amazing. Honestly, this has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. And it means so much that I get to share this moment with you guys. So thank you.”
