Emma Stone Would Love to be Called by Her Real Name

Emma Stone, the two-time Oscar winner, recently expressed her preference regarding her name in a conversation with The Hollywood Reporter, alongside her ‘The Curse’ co-star Nathan Fielder. Stone disclosed that she prefers to be addressed by her given name, Emily, whenever possible.

When asked if she would correct a fan who called her by her real name instead of Emma, the 35-year-old responded positively, stating, “No. That would be so nice. I would like to be Emily.” Stone explained that “people that I work with” tend to call her Emily once they get to know her. She also revealed that she initially chose the stage name “Emma Stone” because her birth name, Emily Stone, was already being used by another actress who was a member of SAG-AFTRA before her.

However, Stone admitted that she changed her heart a couple of years ago and decided she wanted to be called Emily instead. She mentioned that Nathan Fielder calls her “Em,” which is more convenient.

In a previous interview in November 2018, Stone shared that as a child, she wanted to be called Emma because of her favourite ‘Spice Girl’, Baby Spice (Emma Bunton). She reminisced about requesting her teacher to call her Emma on the first day of second grade, inspired by Emma Bunton from the ‘Spice Girls’.

Additionally, Stone expressed her excitement about attending the Spice Girls’ 2019 stadium tour, having been a fan since the ’90s.

During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ she shared her enthusiasm for the group and even took an online quiz to find out which ‘Spice Girl’ she resembled the most. To her surprise, she was matched with Posh Spice, leaving her shocked and amused.
